Embroidery

The collection was born from the idea of using old sheets as embroidery canvas on which I could take drawings from my notebooks to build compositions representing scenes like windows open on a garden.

The first step is to hunt for old, new, metis sheets. I transfer my designs on them and embroider them by hand. Once the work of washing, tracing, and drawing is finished, the embroidery represents from 2 to 3 hours of work for the cushions and from 6 to 14 hours for the tablecloths.

Each piece is unique. These sheets woven in the large French spinning mills more than half a century ago, preciously preserved in the cupboards of our grandmothers, appeared to me as a treasure bequeathed by the old generations, a source of eco-responsible material, available and reusable but also of a beautiful quality. Of a great diversity, they present small variations according to the thickness of the thread, and differences in the nuances of ecru. They are also distinguished by the various forms of original finishes: simple hem, small days, days of Venice.
